Overview
When manually posting a job to an external job board or other online source, user admins and recruiters can add a link that will redirect a candidate to their organization's Applicant Tracking (formerly Recruit) career sites. System users can also configure these URLs so the Source and Source Name fields on the Person profile and Recruiting Workflow profile in iCIMS' Applicant Tracking automatically populate with the appropriate information. (This ability is commonly called auto-sourcing.)
By doing so, candidate source information is more efficiently captured and the organization is able to better report on sourcing efforts.
Creating Links to Auto-Fill Candidate Source Fields
Note: In order to successfully create a link as described in the steps below, it may be necessary to check with the job board to see if you can enter a job URL manually. It may be that the job board you are posting to requires a setting to be enabled in order for you to manually be able to dictate the structure of the link the candidate would click on to apply to the job.
- Post the job to the corresponding career site, as described in Posting a Job to Career Portals.
- Navigate to the job on the corresponding career site and copy the URL for the job listing.
- Paste the URL into the appropriate section of the posting on the external job board. The URL will look similar to the following:
http://jobs-customer.icims.com/jobs/XXXX/job
- Add one of the following strings of text after the URL link in the job board posting:
?mode=job&iis=SOURCE&iisn=SOURCENAME
- This string of text should be used if you want the candidate to be redirected to the Job Description page on the career site. From the job description page, the candidate can log in if they have already created a profile with the organization, or they can begin a new job application.
?mode=apply&iis=SOURCE&iisn=SOURCENAME
- This string of text should be used if you want the candidate to be redirected to the New Candidate profile page. This page is the first step for the candidate to create an application for this job, where the candidate is able to select their preferred method for creating their profile (i.e. using a social account, using an uploaded resume, or filling in an online form).
?mode=prepopulate&iis=SOURCE&iisn=SOURCENAME
- This string of text should be used if you want the candidate to be redirected to the Create Profile page. This page contains fields where the candidate can enter basic information about themselves, such as their name and email. This page is also where the candidate will set their login and password for the career site.
- Replace SOURCE with the type of source you would like a candidate to be associated with via this posting (e.g., Job Board), and replace SOURCENAME with the name of the source you would like a candidate to be associated with via this posting (e.g., Monster.com).
- Note: Use the + key in place of any spaces for the source and source name (e.g., Job+Board).
Using the parenthetical examples listed in above, the URL would look like the following:
http://jobs-customer.icims.com/jobs/XXXX/job?mode=job&iis=Job+Board&iisn=Monster.com
- The URL that you have created can now be used in the job board posting or any other associated online channels from which your organization sources.
