Overview
Social Distribution, a feature of iCIMS Applicant Tracking (ATS), is an all-in-one tool that powers social recruiting across networks at all levels, from corporate to individual, and leverages multiple social recruiting approaches.
Social Distribution administrators are able to invite employees and recruiters to join Social Distribution, as well as manage and remove those users' accounts, from the Social Distribution application's Company tab. This article contains the following sections:
Best Practice Recommendations
To optimize your company's potential for referrals, it is recommended that Social Distribution is rolled out to your entire company. Recruiters, as well as employees, should be encouraged to sign up and register for their own Social Distribution accounts. The more users your company has registered and posting out jobs, the more potential candidates will view your company's jobs. While Social Distribution does not require all employees to sign up, employee participation is encouraged for optimal results.
When employees and recruiters register, they are presented with the option of registering with a personal Facebook profile or a personal LinkedIn profile. If desired, other networks can be connected after registration. The email address an employee registers with can be their personal or work email address; it does not have to be the email address associated with their personal Facebook or LinkedIn page.
Note: For successful registration, employees must grant Social Distribution access to the social network they are signing up with (i.e., Facebook or LinkedIn). Access is not requested through iCIMS ATS; the prompts are routed through the employee's Facebook or LinkedIn account, respectively. If an employee requires assistance, review the Social Distribution: Signing up for Social Distribution Using Facebook or LinkedIn article for more information.
Inviting Employees from the Company Tab
The steps and tips below outline how an admin user can invite employees to sign up for Social Distribution.
- Select Company from the menu bar, then choose User Management.
- Locate your company-specific URL (e.g., https://social.icims.com/account/registration/company/cid/#), available above the list of your company's users.
- Tip: This link is marked with the letter A in the image in the following section of this article.
- Copy this URL and distribute it to your recruiters and employees via email or other internal communications.
Once an employee receives this URL and accesses it, they will be able to sign up for your company's instance of Social Distribution using the steps described in the
Social Distribution: Signing up for Social Distribution Using Facebook or LinkedIn article.
Tips:
- You can also select the Invite button (if available) from the main menu bar to invite your coworkers to sign up for Social Distribution by email.
- Employees may have privacy concerns when connecting their personal accounts. You may want to reassure them by taking the following actions:
- Show employees how the posts will appear once published.
- Ensure employees that no one, including iCIMS staff, will have access to their personal Facebook or LinkedIn accounts. (Feel free to refer them to our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.)
- Remind employees that nothing will post to their personal accounts without their permission.
- To register a new admin user, submit a case to iCIMS Technical Support.
Managing Employees from the Company Tab
The below steps and tips outline how to manage employees and other users within Social Distribution.
- Select Company from the menu bar and choose User Management.

- Company Specific URL: Send the URL listed here to members of your organization to allow them to register as employee users of your company’s instance of Social Distribution.
- Filter Members Dropdown: Select a group from the dropdown list to filter the list of company members.
- User Type: The user type listed in dark gray indicates the user’s current role; select the user type in blue to change their account type.
- Remove User: Select the Remove button beside a user to purge their account.
Tip: To change a user's account type to admin or remove an admin user, submit a case to iCIMS Technical Support.
Removing Employees and Other Users from Social Distribution
Company admins can remove user accounts (including employees, recruiters, other company admins, as well as their own account) from Social Distribution through the Remove button. Removing a user's account purges that user's information from the application. Once removed, the user can no longer access Social Distribution. If the user needs to access the application after being purged, they must be sent a new registration link (as described in the
Social Distribution: Inviting Employees from the Company Tab section of this article) and create a new profile. The steps to remove a user from Social Distribution are outlined below.
- Select Company from the menu bar and choose User Management.
- Locate the user to be removed from the application and select the corresponding Remove button from the Action column (labeled as D in the image above).
- Tip: To remove multiple users at once, check the box to the left of each users' name. Then, select the Remove Selected button located above the list of users.
- After selecting either the Remove or Remove Selected button, a Confirm Remove Users message displays, which includes a list of all users to be removed. Select Confirm to finalize the deletion or select Cancel to return to the User Management screen.
- Note: If the company admin selects their own profile or a profile that is connected to a company Facebook page, an additional warning will display on the confirmation screen. The user can proceed with the removal, if desired, by selecting the Confirm button.
- Upon selecting Confirm, a green success message displays, and the selected user accounts have been removed.
- Note: If the company admin has removed their own account, they will instead be logged out of Social Distribution and brought to the login screen.
